CARDIOLOGY ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP PLAN

Transforming Cardiology at UBC
Founded by the UBC Division of Cardiology in 2014, the Cardiology Academic Partnership Plan (CAPP) stands as a testament to our commitment to advancing cardiology through collaborative effort and innovative funding. By pooling a percentage of net income from Division members into a common fund, we have unlocked new opportunities for growth and development.

Leveraging Divisional Contributions for Greater Impact
CAPP leverages contributions from Division members to attract additional funding from hospital foundations, industry partners, philanthropic donors, and the University. This approach has generated transformational resources that are predominantly invested in protecting academic time for early and mid-career clinical appointments. These investments are crucial for fostering research and educational scholarship.

Empowering Research and Education
CAPP doesn’t just fund academic time protection; it also fuels the growth of our research and educational endeavors. We provide:

  • Pilot Study Funds:
    • Supporting innovative research projects at their inception.
  • Research Facilitation:
    • Assisting researchers in navigating the complexities of project development.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Streamlining processes for both education and research initiatives.

Looking Ahead: Our 2024-2029 Strategic Plan
As we look to the future, the next five years promise continued growth for our Division and CAPP. Our 2024-2029 Strategic Plan outlines ambitious goals to further support strategic initiatives in cardiology. We are excited to expand our impact and drive forward the advancements in research and education that will define the next era of cardiology at UBC.
