Dr. Thomas Ashton, Clinical Assistant Professor
Amit Khosla received his MD from the University of British Columbia. He then completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Calgary before returning to BC for his General Cardiology Fellowship. Amit completed a further subspecialty fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplantation at Stanford University. After initially practicing at Surrey Memorial Hospital, he then joined the Kelowna Cardiology group in January 2020. He is now the Director of Heart Failure services for Interior Health. Amit is passionate about improving heart failure care and patient outcomes locally and throughout the Interior. He works collaboratively with colleagues across the province to bring advanced services including Post-Heart Transplant, Cardiac Amyloid and Cardiac Sarcoid clinical care to Interior Health. He leads the regional IH Heart Failure Advisory Committee which works with heart function clinics across IH to standardize and support HF care. Amit enjoys teaching students and residents and is a Clinical Assistant Professor with UBC. Outside of Cardiology, Amit enjoys spending time with his young family and taking in all the Okanagan has to offer.

Dr. Dhesi completed her Bachelor’s degree with Honors through the UBC/BCIT joint Biotechnology Program and her Doctor of Medicine degree through the University of British Columbia. After training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Alberta, she completed an Advanced Echocardiography fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. She currently works as a General Cardiologist and the head of the Echocardiography lab at RIH. Dr. Dhesi has spearheaded CHAMP, which stands for the Collaborative Heart Attack Management Program. This initiated has brought pre-hospital STEMI care, including thrombolytics, to underserved regions of British Columbia that do not have timely access to a cardiac catheterization lab.
Dr. Gursteven Sra is a Cardiologist at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, known for his exceptional skills in the field of Cardiology and Echocardiography. Born with a passion for medicine, Dr. Sra embarked on his educational journey at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he completed his medical degree.
After graduating from UBC, Dr. Sra completed residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and Cardiology at the University of Toronto. These experiences provided him with a solid foundation in diagnosing and treating various cardiovascular conditions. However, it was his fascination with echocardiography that led him to pursue advanced fellowship training in this specialized field. He holds board certification in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology.
Dr. Sra’s dedication to improving patient care extends beyond his clinical practice. He actively engages in clinical research, contributing to the advancement of cardiovascular medicine and the development of innovative treatment approaches. Additionally, Dr. Sra serves as the Medical Director of Cardio-diagnostics for Interior Health, overseeing and enhancing the diagnostic services provided to patients in the region.
